This filtering and adaption of marketing theory produces a dual process of domestication. On the one side, marketing education programmes which are initially framed by what is understood to be foundational theory found in texts penned by American academics, coalesces with local knowledges and material limitations, like lack of financial capital or deficient technological infrastructures, which ultimately produce an understanding largely dictated by local circumstances and resources.
On the other, these interpretative efforts also end up domesticating the marketing concept by extending its application beyond its traditional business context and into the domain of everyday life.
